more Great Smoky Mountains National Park landscapes....

Here are a few images from yesterday and today in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. I've processed these on my new laptop and am just getting used to the monitor nuances, let me know if they look OK!

Blogger is giving me trouble with captions, so here are the location and tech details in order the photos appear.

  2. Great shots Ethan... Really like the first one. Good to see that you guys were more lucky with the Sun.

Was nice to meet you and Craig!

Once I get back from a business trip, I'm going to finish processing my stuff and post it. I can't wait.

  4. These are beautiful shots, Ethan! I really love the first one with the great silhouette of the old tree set against the classic rolling hills of the Smoky Mountains!

  5. Fantastic shots, Ethan! I particularly like the last two. Are these both single exposures or a combination??

  6. Thanks for all of the comments!

Ryan: good to meet you up in the mountains!

Josh: this is a single exposure. I exposed carefully right to the edge of blowing out the whites (flowing water). I chose a shutter speed that was slow enough to slightly blur the water, but not too long that the flowing water would continually layer over itself (causing brighter highlights). Lastly, I did some selective adjustment of the shadows in post processing, using Nik Viveza software.
