Algonquin Park winter - follow-up

Just a quick follow-up to my last post with a few more images from Alqonquin Provincial Park. I'm still in awe at how incredible that trip was.... I ended up with my best photos of moose and pine marten, as well as plenty of birds. Here are a few:

This is the context for the photos of the moose in the previous post. Canon 1D mk IV, Sigma 70-200/2.8.

Pine Marten peaking over snowy ridge. Canon 1D mk IV, EF 500mm f/4 IS lens & 1.4x teleconverter.

Black-capped Chickadee launching off perch. Canon 1D mk IV, EF 500mm f/4 IS lens & 1.4x teleconverter.

  2. Ethan - that pine martin - killer. The other two are quite nice also, but I am just envious of being that close to the martin.

Ethan, those are all wonderful, but that chickadee shot! Great capture, great timing. I love how the bird is mirroring the droop of the plant. And those carefully placed snowflakes look planned. Just magical.

  12. Ethan,
wonderful photographs. The Chickadee taking flight is really nice. I love the repeating shapes and the touch of action in the wings. And your shots of Great Falls are quite striking. Maybe someday I'll get this good.

  15. Great pictures of the Marten, moose. This past weekend, my wife, Jean, and I, x-country skied in Algonquin Park, on the Fen Lake Ski Trail. It was a white, beautiful world and one of the best ski trips we have ever had. We saw many different birds, and animals, including a moose, a Great Grey Owl, and two Pileated Woodpeckers working on a spring nest.
